Clan MacAlpine Society Logo
There is no officially recognized Clan MacAlpine Crest Badge at this time. In the meantime, we have designed a logo, inspired by the writings of Sir Thomas Innes of Learney, Lord Lyon King of Arms, that represents our ancient Royal heritage. The boars head is the ancient Celtic symbol for royalty and the crown represents the MacAlpine lineage that produced 25 generations of Scottish Kings through the direct male line and more through the female line.

Unofficial Clan MacAlpine Crest Badge
This "Clan MacAlpine Crest Badge" is taken from "Fairbairn's book of Crests." As no MacAlpine Chiefly Arms, of which the crest would be a part, have ever been recorded in the Public Register of All Arms and Bearings in Scotland by the Court of the Lord Lyon, this crest badge is regarded as "fictitious" by the Court. The Lyon Court has advised us that it is not appropriate to promote the use of this crest as a Clan MacAlpine "Strap and Buckle" Crest Badge and, therefore, we strongly recommend that our Clansmen avoid its use as such. The inscription (which uses an acceptable alternate spelling of the word "cuimhnich") means "Remember the Death of Alpin."

Unofficial Clan MacAlpine Crest Badge (color)
This Clan MacAlpine Crest Badge is taken from "Fairbairn's Book of Crests." As it has never been recorded in the Register of Arms in the Court of the Lord Lyon, it is regarded as "fictitious" by the Court. The Lyon Court has advised us that it is not appropriate to promote the use of this crest as a Clan MacAlpine "Strap and Buckle" Crest Badge and, therefore, we strongly recommend that our Clansmen avoid its use as such. The inscription on the encircling "Strap and Buckle" is "Remember the Death of Alpin" while the writing at the bottom of the crest means "The men and women of the Clan."

Flag of Scotland - The Saltire
The Saltire was the flag of Scotland prior to the 1707 unification with England and Wales to form Great Britain at which time the three flags were incorporated to form the Union Jack, the current flag of Great Britain. The Saltire is also known as the St. Andrews Cross. Please see our June 2000 feature on the history of this flag.

The Royal Flag - The Rampant Lion
The Rampant Lion is the flag of the Royal House of Windsor. It may only be displayed in a manner of celebration as it only flys over the residences of the Royal Family. The flag originated in Scotland. We will have an upcoming feature on the history of this flag.

Clan History Available Commercially
This is a scan of a typical MacAlpine Clan History usually available at Highland Games events. Please note that the crest depicted is regarded as fictitious by The Court of The Lord Lyon. As a result of the Society's dialogue with the Court, we have been advised that it is not appropriate to promote the use of this crest as a Clan Crest Badge and, therefore, we advise against the use of this crest.
